Wrist Altimeters

Post by Skyward » Fri Mar 22, 2019 9:03 pm

Can anyone tell me what is a good wrist altimeter for PPG. I've tried to search online but it has not been successful as most altimeter suggestions are for skydiving or paragliding.

I've got a buddy that was very happy with the Garmin Foretrex which also gives GPS capability.

Myself, I use a mini iPad running FlySkyHy. I fly enough locations where I may not be familiar with the terrain that having the ability to direct me back to my LZ is very beneficial. The farthest "out" I have been from a LZ to fly back where I did not know the terrain was 25 miles. Having something point me to a straight line back insured I did not run out of gas.

Actually, that time, the only fuel I had remaining was what was left in the bowl of the Bing carburetor.
